Between confirmations and denials, it seems that an Apple Car is really on the drawing board in Cupertino, even if no one out here knows how it will be, including KIA and Hyundai, often approached to the Apple as a partner. in this project. Vanarama, an English car rental service, commissioned its designers to create a prototype to try and imagine an Apple Car.
And it went even further: in a future world in which, as I've often written, autonomous vehicles could let us spend time in actual moving rooms, BigTech could smell a deal. And so we would see transport hybridized with other services of all kinds: finding ourselves taking a vehicle from Netflix, Zoom and others, which offer us travel and free time. Here are some tastes, starting with the Apple Car.
Apple Car
Vanarama sees the Apple Car as “stylish, minimalist and highly user-friendly.” But don't expect bright colors: space gray, rose gold and other Apple-branded must-haves could be the standard for these cars too.
The self-driving vehicle version would obviously have integrated all the services of the Cupertino company. Apple Car would entertain us with Apple+ or Apple Arcade, obviously guaranteeing all connectivity with "classic" services such as iCloud, to also work on the move.
Expensive? If so much gives me so much. But would there also be subscription services? Maybe. One thing is certain: once we enter the world of Apple Car, no one would save us from the annual keynote that brings out, with Swiss punctuality, "the best car ever".
Netflix CineMove
If Apple Car would be synonymous with innovation, a Netflix Car would be synonymous with video: it goes without saying that if he designed a car it would certainly be a cinema on wheels. Think of an autonomous vehicle equipped with professional-quality surround sound, cinema-style seating, a built-in minibar for snacks and drinks, and lighting that coordinates with what you're watching on the display.
Netflix CineMove would be a more rental-friendly service, of course. If it wasn't a fictional vehicle, I mean.
Peloton CommuCycle
Why cycle at home with the cycle camera? Use that energy to get to the office in the Peloton CommuCycle. The convenience of a car journey, and the benefit of a bike journey. You could find yourself on the ring road while a personal trainer shouts at you from the screen (or directly in the cockpit, the future is freedom) that "you are not doing your best".
Other rental service. Maybe Peloton won't think about it, maybe people like will think about it Jax Jox, or Virgin. Maybe the same Apple Car will also be in an Apple Fit version. Maybe with other exercise programs or equipment depending on the package you choose. In any case, a gym on wheels is in the sights of the future.
Obviously a special air conditioning, recirculation and fragrance system will keep the "gym" smell at bay that could harm this autonomous vehicle :)
Zoom MeetUp
If Zoom made a car, it would be able to “revolutionize business on the go by hybridizing remote and in-person meetings.” The Zoom MeetUp would allow people to continue their meeting while commuting between airports and offices. Of course, the imagined vehicle would have a seamless audio-visual communications system.
No more clumsy attempts to balance a laptop, notepad, phone and coffee on your lap - you and your team have everything you need to stay connected while traveling as if you were in the office.
But then I say to myself: couldn't this whole car ride have just been an email? Maybe it will make the end of picture phone.
Amazon Prime Max
After the "Apple Car revolution", the future of technology companies' vehicles would not only focus on end users. Brands like Amazon would focus on their services, such as delivery services.
Make way for autonomous vehicles like Amazon Prime Max, vans that seem to be the natural evolution of "traditional" vehicles already in use from the Seattle giant, or from the robotic ones planned (do you know Zoox? I talked about it here). It would be a hub vehicle capable of launching and charging a fleet of drones Prime air or small delivery droids on the ground.
Packing everything into the back of a large, modern van-style shell (just to keep a touch of nostalgia in the design) the rear cargo compartment would be the core of a mini capillary distribution system capable of delivering anything in a predetermined radius. .
Airbnb Serenity Shuttle
Places on wheels, we said. And therefore also hotels, as we have told. The Airbnb Serenity Shuttle concept is a drivable hotel room. A mini apartment on wheels with everything you need to pass the time between home and holiday, offering a peaceful journey comparable to a stay in a 5-star Airbnb.
It would turn the journey itself into a vacation.
