We predicted it, then observed it many times: technology deepfake, holograms e metaverse they will gradually 'exhume' the great characters of history and entertainment to propose them to the new generations as they have never seen them. Almost in the flesh. We will see them revived in new films at the cinema, they will sing new songs, they will welcome tourists in museums, and they will do it perfectly in all languages without dubbing. A form of insult, you will say. In a way it is, but that doesn't change the facts.
After James Dean, engaged in a new movie (decades after his death), Salvador Dali which presents his own exhibition and the young people Abba'that yes perform in concert applauded by the public and by themselves today adults, it is the turn of Marilyn Monroe.
2022 is the year of Marilyn
The timeless legacy of the illustrious screen siren has never been more magnetic. This year alone we have already seen a biopic featuring the blonde Ana de Armas and a bad attempt to wear his clothes (Kim Kardashian). There is no doubt: few figures of the last century can compare with Monroe's longevity. To the point that the diva who is her heir seems never to have been born: and therefore a world incapable of fabricating new, true myths resorts to the old. Marilyn Monroe's heir is Marilyn Monroe herself.
I accepted the unique challenge of imagining her in a modern photo shoot
Carine Roitfeld, founder and creative director of CR, an important fashion magazine.
On the occasion of Monroe's birthday, June 1st, the 4th issue of CR China presented eight (splendid, it must be said) selected covers that imagine the Monroe as it might look if she were alive today, in her prime. The startup Web3 Amethyst e Authentic Brands Group (ABG), the brand development, marketing and entertainment company that owns the Monroe property, helped Roitfeld put Marilyn back in the spotlight of a modern runway show.
Some like it cold
For the first time ever, the magazine tells us, Marilyn Monroe digitally wears some of today's best brands, including Thom Browne, Balenciaga, Miu Miu Fendi. “The CR Fashion Book brand has been looking to the future of fashion for a long time,” he says Vladimir Roitfeld, CEO of CR Fashion Book, Ltd. “We were delighted to collaborate with the innovators of this new digital age on such an iconic theme as Mrs. Marilyn Monroe. These covers arrive at a time when this great diva is experiencing a moment of great interest worldwide."
It seems like a paradoxical question, but as I told you at the beginning of the article you should have expected it: is this the "future" of fashion?
