Yahoo recently reached an agreement to sell its Web business to Verizon in an operation costing 5 billion dollars, although there was no shortage of problems (see the hacker attacks on Yahoo's email network). The New York Post had even spoken of a request for a discount from a billion dollars advanced by Verizon following the data theft.
After 23 years from its foundation, therefore, Yahoo will close its doors. Verizon bought virtually everything: the advertising business, the sites, the mobile applications and email. The most sensational farewell is that of Marissa, CEO since July 2012, who joined Yahoo from Google.
