The American startup Erthos has developed a new method of installing solar systems directly on the ground, without the need for mounting structures.
No supports. No fittings. Apart from that, what's special about ch3? The company claims that with this new method solar plants could occupy only a third of the surface occupied by traditional photovoltaic systems. A very interesting factor for the increase in , because it allows even smaller lands to be used for photovoltaic systems, otherwise unable to install them (and perhaps also to grow vegetables).
That's not all: the new method, called Earth Mount Solar, allows for the construction of the plants in half the timereducing installation costs of 20% and the amount of cables needed even of 70%.
How does the new installation method work?
Earth Mount Solar uses the heat-absorbing ability of the ground, and promises unbeatable aerodynamic efficiency. Not to mention the resistance to category 4 hurricanes, which is practically impossible with any other type of photovoltaic system.
Time halved, density doubled
Erthos has recently signed an agreement with the US developer Industrial Sun LLC for a new 100+ MW solar plant in Texas.
Thanks to the new method without supports and placed directly on the ground, the project requires less than 1 hectare (2,5 acres of land) per MW, reaching more than double the energy density of typical systems.
