Until recently, pallets were considered as "disposable tools“, destined to be abandoned after the first use.
Despite their invaluable help to the world of construction and shipping, no way had been found to reuse them. The long and tortuous recycling process scares most producers. With the invention of LOOP, the solution seems one step closer.
LOOP is a product created by Scott Group, which aims to reduce waste generated by the system. Above all, the project aims to create a new mechanism for the production and collection of pallets.
To understand its importance, just think that in the world, less than 10% of products are reused.
To meet the growing demand, approximately 2500 hectares forestry. Considering that almost none of this is then recycled, the waste is truly staggering.
Loop and the pallet revolution
The system developed by LOOP, points to the reuse almost complete with pallets.
If all goes well, emissions will be reduced by 40% and the use of wood by 75%.
All that is required of producers to become part of the LOOP system is an initial deposit amount. After that the pallet can begin its reuse process.
After satisfying the customers (when the pallet has done its job) the commissions are collected and then moved to a new recycling system. The products undergo a “natural refill“, which allows it to return to the market stronger than before. In fact, they are also said to have better performance in terms of loading and lifting than their wooden counterparts.
LOOP could bring many producers closer to the world of reuse, saving the environment effort and trees. A project worth keeping an eye on.
