La #Toyota has decided to produce and sell #Kirobo, a little #robot “companion” for drivers.
In the last five years, the car manufacturer has in fact invested approx a billion dollars in Artificial Intelligence Studies and Technology. The latest product will be Kirobo (which will be launched in January 2017), a robot designed to help drivers (and not just them).
Kirobo will be sold directly in dealerships of the brand. The launch will first take place in Tokyo for almost 40 yen (approx 350 €); the robot will take the place of a copilot, for example by sending a signal in the event of necessary braking or a dangerous curve on the way, and can keep the driver awake. At home, Kirobo can warn us if the door has been closed.
Kirobi connects to the smartphone via bluetooth and, through an integrated camera, it is able to recognize people's facial expressions, conversing and adjusting to the driver's mood. It is about 10cm tall, records all the information of the car.
