We all know gaming chairs: it's not really a Near Future theme (I only talked about it on one occasion, I think, , promising). Ok, there are different ones, end of discussion. No? Apparently not: because they even require the user to sit down. Horror! Why not give those who play the opportunity to lie down and immerse themselves in their perfect game?
There was obviously a gap in the market, don't you think? Here's what was needed: a gaming mattress, Mr.ladies and gentlemen!
Eat, lie down, play, die
Bauhutte is a Japanese brand specializing in gaming furniture, which (it says) offers its customers the most comfortable experience possible to break previous gaming records. Among its various solutions for hardcore gamers are a blanket to keep your fingers warm while killing enemies and… an entire bed. After all, let's be clear: it's 2021, baby. Who needs to leave the house anymore?
This new gaming mattress is definitely a step up from the blanket, and you can even sleep on it if you're still sleepy. Installed alone it looks like a trivial mattress to be combined with a normal bed. But no, unbelievers: the mattress is made of high-resilience urethane, I read from the Bauhutte website. A whopping 8 centimeters (3,1 inches) thick! It's a lot? Is it little? It looks subtle to the eye. Oh well, in Japan they are used to sleeping on the floor.
And then there are gaps in the gaming mattress material that allow you to distribute the weight well, adapting to the structure of the human body: this should compensate for the thickness, right? RIGHT??
Gaming is increasingly pervasive
I won't hide it from you: I was born in 1975, and I experienced the explosion of coinups and video games in general with crazy enthusiasm. Yet today, having mysteriously become a boomer, I am worried. The narrative already tells us about kids who, immersed in gaming, never leave their room (the business of loneliness is going strong).
