The window cleaning robot is a recent invention that has established itself following the success of robot vacuum cleaners for floors. The first model, Wdoro, dates back to 2012: I don't think it worked well, however. Before looking around I had never heard of it. And then there would be those for skyscrapers, which make history in themselves.
Anyway, “back to the future”, this automatic device is designed to clean glass surfaces such as windows, mirrors and other similar surfaces. Window washing robots are equipped with intelligent navigation systems that allow them to move across glass surfaces in a coordinated manner using infrared sensors, pressure sensors, ultrasonic sensors or other technologies to detect contours and obstacles. How does Ecovacs Winbot W1 work?
Ecovacs Winbot W1 is a window cleaning robot equipped with powerful suction cups that allow it to adhere to the glass surface. To use it, just stick it to the window and watch as it works. Just 7,5cm thick, only 1,5kg in weight, it is the lightest ever developed, capable of cleaning both the inside and outside of windows.
Also in this case the robot is equipped with an intelligent navigation system that allows it to move on the surface of the glass in a coordinated way, avoiding obstacles and falls thanks to safety sensors. Some models can be controlled remotely or sent to a specific area of the window.
Advantages and disadvantages of a window cleaning robot like Winbot W1
The advantages they are not few, after all. Saving time and the possibility of carrying out more frequent cleaning are a good prospect. Furthermore, the window cleaning robot is more environmentally friendly than manual washing with chemicals (because it wastes less product).
The disadvantages? Yes, there are those to consider too. Some models don't seem to be able to reach the edges of the windows, still requiring manual washing in those areas (and goodbye saving time). Maybe, just maybe, they are a little noisy, and in some cases leave a small halo on the windows: they are gearing up for perfection, let's say. Level of detail: Pizza made from vending machine.
