The recently concluded CES 2024 marked a significant moment in the automotive sector with the presentation of "Squad", an electric city car that promises to redefine the concept of urban mobility. This vehicle, designed by Dutch startup Squad Mobility, stands out for its compact size and innovative use of a solar panel.
Innovation at the service of urban mobility
The Squad is designed specifically for dense urban environments. Its small size not only makes it easier to maneuver in narrow city streets, but also allows you to park in tight spaces, a notable advantage in metropolitan areas where parking is often a problem.
And we come to the "heart" of this city car: the solar panel integrated on the roof, which also increases the vehicle's autonomy. On sunny days, the panel can generate enough power to extend the range by 22km in the Netherlands and up to 31km in sunnier places like Las Vegas.
Performance and Autonomy
The Squad is powered by a 4 kW engine and reaches a top speed of 45 km/h, adequate for urban use. With its four interchangeable batteries, it offers a range of up to 100 km, making it a practical solution for most daily city trips.
Solar City Car: prices and versions
Squad Mobility has announced that the basic model, with a range of 50 km, will cost around 6.000 euros, while the version with 100 km of range will be available for around 8.500 euros. It is already possible to place a pre-order on the official website, with a deposit of $50.
Shall we turn it on? (nowadays, and on the subject of electric cars, the question is more than a provocation).
