This curious concept of intelligent home robot 'Cor!' tells something about how this device, which has not yet reached our homes, could evolve. The answer offered by this project? Plausible: eventually, this new (and very complex) “appliance” will merge with our living spaces.
A domestic robot dedicated to discretion
That of 'Cor!' it is a decidedly discreet technology for living spaces: the robot is characterized by its furniture-like design that will blend into the “surrounding home landscape” when not in use.
In other words, we will have an extra piece of furniture in the living room. A strange piece of furniture, which like in cartoons will come to life when necessary for various activities. Maybe he'll even have some knick-knacks and take them off himself before going to water the plants, help with laundry, play with pets, and more.
How does it do it all?
Another almost "consequential" idea explored by the concept developed by Korean designers Haechan Ryu e Haechan Jeong is that the robot can carry out various activities with the help of a series of accessories placed on a shelf. The robot itself will use them, placing and exchanging them as needed.
The domestic robot 'Cor!' it was explicitly designed to integrate with the context of a normal home, moreover according to Asian standards, and therefore calibrated for very small apartments. Why do I say this? Well, because the concept boasts multi-directional movement that allows it to virtually turn on itself. It is unlikely that he will offend some of his "colleagues" who have remained simply as a static piece of furniture: dear, old school.
Lots of good ideas
Often our imagination of the future makes us "see" technological achievements with great emphasis. Let's think about the appearance of a domestic robot as the collective imagination suggests: we see it as an android with a positronic brain, or a formidable "monster" with mechanical arms.
The past teaches us that the most successful technologies are perfectly integrated into our daily lives: let's put the Terminator aside, our future robotic assistant will be a bedside table. A nightstand that will stick out his arms when he needs it, a nightstand that's made it.
