To many, holoportation might sound like a futuristic term. In reality, it is the ability to represent a person who is physically in another place through three-dimensional images.
The world is exploring the potential of this technology (I am thinking of developments such as Portal o Starline of Google), and it is nice to see that Italy can also actively contribute to this field.
Two more words about holotransportation
Many of you will remember the famous scene from “Star Wars” where Princess Leia appears as a hologram. This cinematic depiction, while fantastical, wasn't that far removed from today's reality. Holoportation goes beyond simply projecting an image. It is a three-dimensional representation of a person who, despite being physically in one place, can "appear" in another thanks to technology.
A concrete example? The live event organized in Rome by Media Engineering. During the event, a speaker was "teleported" from Bologna to Rome, allowing the audience to interact with him as if he were physically present on stage. A demonstration that showed not only the company's technical capabilities, but also the potential of holotransport as a communication tool.
More time for quality communication
Antonio Franzese, co-founder of Media Engineering, highlighted the importance of overcoming space-time limitations through holotransportation. The fidelity of the holographic projection of the human body is the additional factor that can make the difference.
With high definition standards and the advent of artificial intelligence, says Franzese, the possibilities for interaction and communication are destined to grow.
In what way?
imagine the possibility of building your own digital avatar with appearance, voice and body identical to ours, capable of presenting an initiative for us and collecting feedback from a real audience distributed everywhere.
A plus that would allow, for example, to maximize "human" time, the time we dedicate in person (even in that case physically or remotely).
A bit like having the “gift of technological ubiquity”.
Good luck, friends. Dedication, passion and commitment to innovation are an example for all of us and represent a testimony to the potential that Italy has in the field of technology and innovation.
