Thailand has become one of those essential destinations that we must visit at least once in a lifetime. Before the pandemic, its popularity did not stop growing but it is now in 2023, when everything seems to have calmed down, that the Thai authorities themselves estimate around 32 million tourists in their country.
Since one of the most frequently asked questions is whether or not it is safe to travel to Thailand, the answer is simple: yes, but prevention never hurts and, this being the case, all authorities recommend having atravel medical insurance for Thailand with as wide a coverage as possible.
In addition to this, the basic document required for European Union citizens is a passport in good standing and with a validity upon entry into the country of at least 60 days. If the trip is for pleasure and for less than 30 days, a visa is not required and this seems obvious, but some tourists forget the plane ticket for both the outward and return journey.
Why travel to Thailand
Having clarified all the bureaucracy that we have to prepare for our trip, let's see what are the fundamental reasons for not postponing the visit to Thailand further.
Bangkok
As much as you can tell it, you have to experience it firsthand. The capital is unique. Here modernity mixes with the past. It is normal to come across incredible skyscrapers, five minutes walk from temples where their tradition remains intact. Plus, it's the city that never sleeps, there's always something to do regardless of the time of day or night.
His legacy
Ruins like Ayutthaya will leave anyone speechless. Its tradition, its rich culture or its identity are simply unique. Surely this has a lot to do with the fact that it was the only country in the area that was not colonized.
As an advice, it is better to take advice from the locals to reach sensational places.
It is a very cheap destination
Because let's not kid ourselves, this is one of the main reasons for the great tourism that Thailand has. Traveling there as a European is like feeling like the king of the place, for better or for worse. To give us an idea, a luxury room for two people can cost €20 per night, but you can find much cheaper accommodation. Or eat their delicious dishes (like pad Thai) there for no more than €2.
As with everything, it is best to avoid very touristic places because this is where we will see higher prices and not because of their better quality.
Gorgeous beaches
Remember Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie 'The Beach'? Well, it was filmed in Thailand. It is true that tourism has ruined some of the enclaves that appeared almost like virgin beaches, but even so you can still find beaches that seem fake.
Some that can be put on the list to visit would be: Krabi, Ko Phangan, Surin Island, Koh Kood or Ko Chang.
Thus, a day in which you are tired of visiting the city, visiting its temples and learning more about its culture, can be concluded by resting on its fine sandy beaches.
In addition to all the reasons that can be included to visit Thailand (where its mythical massages cannot be missing) it should be noted that the locals are certainly spectacular. Always available and ready to help.
