Next month, an artificial intelligence (AI) paralegal will make her first court appearance to help a defendant in his lawsuit to appeal a fine.
The AI, developed by the startup DoNotPay and billed as the "world's first robot lawyer", will be used through a smartphone. It will listen to the judges' arguments in real time and provide directions to the defendant via headphones. The creators of the brilliant "lawyer" have not yet disclosed in which court the lawsuit will be held, nor the name of the defendant.

An absolute first
The lawsuit (the appeal against a speeding dispute) will see the participation of a defendant in the unusual guise of a puppet: all his interventions will be written by the DoNotPay AI. Which offered to pay the expenses in case of defeat, through the mouth of its CEO Joshua browder (Stanford University computer scientist).
DoNotPay, startup starting as a legal advice chatbot in case of fines or sanctions, it added artificial intelligence to its range of services just three years ago, in 2020.
Today, Browder's stated goal is to have its app fully replace attorneys in a "minor" lawsuit such as an appeals one.

Lawsuit, special assistant
"There will still be a lot of very good lawyers," Browder says. "Professionals capable of discussing important issues such as human rights before the European Court. Many others, however, could be replaced by AI: those whose work mainly consists of copying and pasting legal letters".
What are you saying? You are right? The artificial intelligence tsunami it could overwhelm even the jurisprudence, and make a lawsuit more accessible and convenient for everyone. Lawyers warned, means saved. Perhaps.
