I wrote such an intriguing title that it made me want, for once, to read one of my articles. A pen that writes without ink and paper made without trees? This is exactly the proposition that the stationery brand Nuka is making with its line of "eternal stationery".
Nuka, to write endlessly
Designed to last practically an eternity, Nuka's notebook uses proprietary tree-free paper: waterproof, coffee-proof, and tear-resistant.
How strong? Much. To the point that your dog will not be able to eat the sheets to spite you.
The perfect "companion" to such a product is a pencil, also developed by Nuka, which never needs to be sharpened and will never run out of writing capacity. Made of a special metal that oxidizes paper when it comes into contact with it, this pencil literally writes forever.
How “eternal” paper and pencil work
Most of the paper uses flattened and laminated cotton, fiber or wood pulp in thin sheets, but Nuka's paper takes a different path.
It's made of polypropylene (a plastic known for immense flexibility) with a matte finish that offers the same feedback as conventional paper, but with added benefits. It is waterproof, rewritable, stain-proof.
The Nuka pencil, on the other hand, is made entirely of metal, with a special metal tip that oxidizes on the surface of the paper. Working in a way that literally feels magical, the metal pencil glides across the paper, leaving behind a graphite-like trail. The metal tip never dulls or wears out.
And is it also erasable? Yes. But the only way to erase writing made with the Nuka pencil is to use a special liquid (always Nuka). Each bottle of liquid can erase an entire Nuka notebook 5 times.
