Cycling Cinema is a concept by Milan Tak, a graduate student at the Design Academy Eindhoven. I found it really interesting. With the pretext of open-air cinema it makes us understand how combining versatility and "miniaturization" can be the right adaptive approach to the present and future context.
At the cinema we are sitting in a sort of "magic box". The whole environment becomes dark, and then the magic happens: the projection lights up the stories that excite us, entertain us, move us. Cycling Cinema is a concept that aims to make the entire environment around us part of the film. You can choose the perfect location for an outdoor cinema evening, or a place that can represent, why not, the atmosphere of the film. There are many possible solutions that can make the viewing experience richer. Street fun, or rather: smartfun.
Cycling Cinema, if the viewer does not go to the cinema, the cinema goes to the viewer
A small parenthesis should be opened to underline the beauty of this design of the bike for outdoor cinema, a design that winks at Art Deco. Cycling Cinema has the typical style of an old cinema: projector, lights, audio system, screen, seats and popcorn container seem to have come straight from our collective imagination. This bike brings back that nostalgic outdoor movie vibe, turns any place into an outdoor cinema. And it transfers the concept of "street food" to different services too.
Milan Tak explains that instead of going to the movies, you can have movies delivered to you or any specific location. The perfect location will intensify the movie watching experience, the meeting opportunities will multiply. Instead of a few rooms crammed with people, cinema could become a "capillary", localized and personalized way of having fun. Cycling Cinema consists of a classic cargo bike with all the devices needed to create an outdoor cinema on any site.
