Everyone talks about nothing but #R1, the first robot "for families" produced by the Italian Institute of Technology (Iit) of Genoa.

The "dad" of R1, Giorgio Metta, is convinced of the great potential of his little robot: “The commercial prospects are immense”. “R1 Your Personal Humanoid” was created starting from the experience gained from the creation of iCub, the most widespread research humanoid robot in the world.

R1 has an Italian design, weighs approx 50 chili, has a variable height from 1 meter and 25 to 1 meter and 40 centimeters thanks to an extendable bust and is made for 50% of plastic and for the other 50% in carbon fiber carbon e metal. It will cost like a small car but in the future it will cost a few thousand euros.

The colorectal cancer vaccine test was a success

In about ten years, it is expected, it will be normal to have a robot in every home. In an article published in the monthly Scientific American, the founder of Microsoft Bill Gates he predicted that a robot would enter every home within 25 years. The arrival of R1 is the signal that we are now there.

But what can R1 do? Above all, he can make decisions and solve problems because he is intelligent. R1 has 28 movement motors, communicates non-verbally with expressions on the face. It recognizes objects and learns over time and with experience, it can be a valuable aid for those with limited motor skills and for many other uses.
