gogoro, the Taiwan-based electric scooter manufacturer that relies on a battery swap network to recharge vehicles, is debuting on the Nasdaq with its common stock and warrants.
A very remarkable result, which opens the eyes even to the last skeptics on the potential that a real, structured network of swap battery could have in the development of urban electric mobility.
Beyond the scooters
Gogoro is best known for its high-speed electric scooters, but seems to be focusing on the complete infrastructure. Its 1,7 kWh “interchangeable” batteries are already used to power lightweight electric vehicles such as electric scooters and scooters, and it bundles multiple batteries to provide greater range and power.
Currently, in the domestic market, Gogoro manages a vast network of over 2.000 GoStations for battery swap: places where you simply stop, swap one or two batteries and go on. Time for surgery? A few seconds.
The solution of the Taiwanese company it solves the charging problem and also lowers the cost of vehicles, because the battery remains the property of the network operator. Soon, GoStation battery swap stations will surpass regular gas stations across Taiwan.
The swap battery transforms mobility
Gogoro's battery swap can revolutionize urban mobility in the world's most densely populated cities, transforming the way people use and share portable energy. Soon it will also boast solid-state batteries with faster charging and greater capacity.
In summary: Gogoro is well positioned: it has a very strong concept in swap battery, it has innovative technology, an expanding international presence and an experienced management team. In other words, it aims to become a standard. More: IT IS BECOMING a standard.
Yamaha and over a dozen other manufacturers have built electric scooters with short development times thanks to the Gogoro network that helps manufacturers overcome their electric vehicle development processes. Creating “compatible” vehicles with Gogoro is quicker and easier for them too.
