Studies ASPECT completed the first phase of the development of a hyperlane in Chengdu, China.
It is a multi-level linear park that stretches for a kilometer and a half. Alone or in combination with i superblocks, the Chengdu hyperlane will be a destination of youth culture and lifestyle in the heart of the city's university music and art district, capable of changing the face of entire neighborhoods.
The long, sweet life
Hyperlane establishes a vibrant and playful linear space, connecting the local transportation hub with the university community and Chengdu campus. ASPECT design and architecture studios planned to modify the physiognomy of a site in Chengdu previously occupied by a series of abandoned car parks that offered no social or environmental value to the community.
Hyperlane responds to students' unique needs and characteristics of replacing a "dead" place with a living one. The longitudinal park design offers connections in every direction, creating a social space and a barrier-free pedestrian network that extends lengthwise and can be experienced, enjoyed and walked.
Hyperlane: a road to touch points
The first phase of the hyperlane in Chengdu is called “the urban gallery” and offers social experiences and points of connection with the community.
The project supports young creative arts and musical culture: within the urban gallery there are several main areas.
The seaside" it consists of a network of planters, small basins of rainwater and multidirectional social sessions.
“The water carpet” it is designed to enable visual connectivity while creating a sense of arrival and transition. The combination of shallow backdrops, light displays, material contrasts and planting pots offer a visual and physical experience and a journey halfway between the urban stroll and the performance gallery.
