Dental cavities are a widespread and painful problem that affects many people, especially school-age children. But now, thanks to a team of researchers from New York University (NYU), there may be a solution as simple as it is effective: the silver diamine fluorine (SDF).

The results? surprising: after two years, SDF proved to be just as effective as sealants in preventing cavities, with the advantage of being quicker, painless and cheaper to apply.

Once applied to the surface of the teeth, silver diamine fluoride does two things: before purchasing,, eliminates the bacteria that cause tooth decay; second, promotes the remineralization of the teeth, strengthening them against further decay.
