Speeding along the road and feeling a motorbike vibrate delicately beneath us, almost as if it had a heartbeat. It's not an ordinary sensation, but the synergistic heartbeat of Project M³, the concept of a 'living' motorcycle that doesn't just take you around, but establishes a bond with us.
A bit like in the film Avatar, when the Navi 'bonded' to their animal-means of transport, this is not a simple electric motorbike, but an extension, a 'companion' that feels and responds to the driving style.
A bond beyond mechanics
When we think of our two-wheelers, we often see them as simple means of transport. Project M³ aims to completely change this perception. This motorcycle created by the Taiwanese designer Richard Huang it is not just a means, but an extension of the rider.
The basic shape of this two-wheeler is inspired by one of the smartest and most fascinating creatures on our planet: the Delfino. The playful and lively appearance of the dolphin is reflected in the motorcycle's toothed rims and in the front headlight section. Complete with a "breather" similar to that of dolphins, which actually houses the charging connection.
A living chameleon on two wheels
Beyond the aesthetic aspect, there are other factors that make this motorbike unique. Made of shape memory alloy, the Project M³ it can change its streamlined shape based on speed.
When you speed at high speed, it becomes more compact and aerodynamic, reducing air resistance. At reduced speed, however, the bike "expands", offering greater stability and traction. It's just like interacting with a living creature, which adapts and reacts to your driving style.
To make the experience even more immersive, the designers added a very special touch. When riding at low speed, the motorcycle lights flash slowly, like a calm and relaxed heartbeat. As you accelerate, however, the rhythm and color of the lights change, simulating an accelerated heartbeat. This not only makes the bike more visible at night, but it really creates a sense of connection.
From concept to reality
Many designers just create concept in a 3D world, but this is not the case with Richard Huang. The designer has already made a 1:1 version of the Project M³, proving that this bike could really become a reality (except the spokes were replaced by an electromagnetic field, which we frankly consider far-fetched). In a future populated by electric means of transport, more creative details will be needed to allow passengers to "feel" the road more.
In summary? Project M³ it's not just a motorbike, but a vision of the future in which no journey is any longer a simple journey, but an experience. More: almost a dialogue, a dance.
And you, are you ready to dance?
