In a world increasingly concerned about climate change and looking for more sustainable energy solutions, thewind power has a crucial role to play. However, you know, the main challenge of these renewable sources is to have an effective storage system, because production does not always coincide with energy demand. And if we asked for help... Compressed air?
Goodbye batteries: energy stored in compressed air
Typically, special battery-based storage systems are used to store the energy produced by solar panels or wind turbines. The Zired implants manufactured by Optitimetron take a completely different approach. They all have a large tank of compressed air that acts as a sort of "battery".
Energy is stored in the form of high pressure air, with a storage capacity of up to 100 GWh. The compressed air can later be used to drive a turbine when the wind is not strong enough, thus ensuring constant energy production.

Ready in any condition
The built-in compressor in the Zired wind turbine is responsible for compressing the air in the tank. The peculiarity of this system is that it manages to fill the tank with compressed air even with relatively low rotation speeds of the blades, with moderate winds.
The choice of materials, add the engineers, makes Zired a more environmentally friendly, efficient and less expensive system to build than traditional wind turbines.
Not to mention the lightness: the compressor and the motors used each weigh about 100 kg, and not several tons.

Will be. Although it was designed to be cheaper than traditional wind turbines, large-scale implementation could require significant investments, especially in the early stages of development and deployment.
