Amazon Glow is a device that debuted last September, available for testing only for a select few invited by Bezos' company. Today it is accessible to everyone in the United States, for the "modest" (so to speak) price of 299 dollars on the main e-commerce chains.
Yes, but what is it?
Amazon Glow is, in a nutshell, the first device entirely created by Amazon for children. A kind of system for creative activities and "dynamic" video calls designed to entertain, interact and study the youngest users.
“We understand that most parents say it's difficult for their kids to stay engaged in standard video chats, and let's be honest, staying in one place,” he says Joerg Tewes, the general manager and head of the Amazon Glow project.
Amazon Glow, an “activity center” in a box
“Glow is like a giant, fun-filled virtual playground that provides a fascinating experience for kids, teens and the entire family,” Tewes continues. Technology has strengthened, especially in times of pandemic, its mission of bringing distant people closer. The aim is increasingly to also ensure that they interact, that they do things together even from a distance.
Needless to say, we talked about the metaverse here, here, and here. While this great "transition phase" is being prepared, traditional devices are being enriched with more functions. And Amazon Glow is no exception.
I'm honest: I don't predict great success for this trick. In everything, even in its appearance, it reminds me of many "technological hybrids", often the result of attempts, which Big Tech have given birth to and then aborted over the years.
He too will be of great use, in his own way. As with its predecessors who were then set aside, it will be a trailblazer with a mission: to further refine the offer in relation to user needs. Even the small ones.
