There is a curious novelty in the soft drink industry that may prompt you to drink a soda you never imagined.

We are talking about Ful, the new drink from a Dutch brand that is trying to bring "the power of microalgae" to tables around the world.

Ful's main ingredient is spirulina algae, which is responsible for the beautiful blue color. Spirulina is known for its "nutritional supplement" capabilities. Not only is it rich in iron, it also contains high levels of vitamin C, calcium, and antioxidants (including chlorophyll). It is in all respects among the superfoods, foods with high nutritional capacity.

With these assumptions, intense blue color and guaranteed nutrition, it is worth investigating.

Here comes the insulating super biochar: it captures CO2 and is transformed into fertilizer

The innovative spirulina soda

One of the company's co-founders, Julia Streuli, defined the flavor of this innovative soda as extremely pleasant and slightly salty, "able to pair very well with other flavors".

Spirulina algae gives it an unusual but particular taste, which quickly amazes new consumers. All this, added to its nutritional advantages, could turn into an element of strong attraction for sportsmen and others.

One of the most interesting aspects of Ful's production concerns the growth of algae.

In order for spirulina to grow strong and healthy, a carbon dioxide absorption phase must be included in the growth process.

The brewery that currently makes the brand's drinks produces food CO2 during the entire process. All excess CO2 is then captured and fed back to the growing algae. Production thus becomes a "closed circuit", ecological and economically favorable.

The new Ful soda has just been introduced in the UK. At the moment, it can be found in gyms, restaurants and small grocery stores. In the future, it could continue to expand to reach Italy.

And you, would you taste a blue drink that "eats" CO2?
