The frame of a skateboard has inspired the development of the most disparate kinds of vehicles: its versatile shape has allowed the creation of hoverboards, Segways and more.
The electric vehicle industry has taken a step forward with the research of the Swedish company Scania, which specializes in the development of transport solutions: its NXT is a very interesting concept that combines innovation and intelligent use of resources.
It is an electric, autonomous and multipurpose vehicle consisting of an interchangeable floor and cab: a modular vehicle that can change destination as you change a suit according to the occasion.
One of the modules, for passenger transport, develops like a traditional bus with 55 seats and a large glass surface.
Other modules have been designed for different uses, for example as cargo for deliveries or supplies, or even for waste collection.
NXT will be able to take the kids to school by itself, finish the shift and "swap" its cabin in storage to go and deliver goods in the afternoon. At 22 pm he will return to the base again, load a new cockpit on his wheels and go to collect waste.

A truly promising approach, which required over two years of research but can become an important reference for future urban transport and service solutions.
