The frame of a skateboard has inspired the development of the most disparate types of vehicles: its versatile shape has allowed the creation of hoverboards, Segways and much more.
The electric vehicle industry has taken a step forward with the research of the Swedish company Scania, specialized in the development of transport solutions: its NXT is a very interesting concept that combines innovation and intelligent use of resources.
It is an electric, autonomous and multipurpose vehicle made up of an interchangeable platform and cab: a modular vehicle that can change destination like you change clothes depending on the occasion.
One of the modules, for passenger transport, develops like a traditional bus with 55 seats and a large glass surface.
Other modules have been designed for different uses, for example as cargo for deliveries or supplies, or even for waste collection.
NXT will be able to take the kids to school alone, finish his shift and "exchange" his cabin in the warehouse to go and deliver goods in the afternoon. At 22pm she will return to the base again, load a new cabin on her wheels and go to collect waste.
A truly promising approach, which required over two years of research but can become an important reference for future urban transport and service solutions.
