What do you think of a modular houseboat that provides its energy needs on its own?
You don't have to go far with your imagination: its name is Floatwing. Designed by the Portuguese agency Friday, this house can generate all the energy it needs for a year in just 6 months. Equipped with a robust photovoltaic system, a wastewater treatment mechanism and other elements, Floatwing is a real concentrate of energy saving technologies capable of transforming a home into the node of a smart grid.
The house is on two levels: inside there is a kitchen, a heat pump, an electric generator, a warehouse for pellets to be burned in winter, a barbecue, a small wine cellar and up to three bedrooms. The width of the building is fixed and is 6 meters, while the length can be customized from 10 to 18 meters. It is a modular solution that can be inserted and shipped virtually anywhere in the world in two standard containers. For locomotion, two small outboard motors allow you to travel at a speed of about 3 knots.
The dream of independence that tends to infinity: a house that is also a boat, which is also an autonomous energy center.
