Saddle pain is every cyclist's sworn enemy. Whether it's a Sunday ride or a long-distance race, the constant pressure on your sit bones can turn even the most enjoyable ride into agony. What if the saddle moved with your legs? This is the revolutionary idea behind it vabsRider, the saddle for bicycles which promises to change the way we ride forever.
With its two movable sides that adapt to the movement of the legs, vabsRider redistributes pressure, offering unprecedented comfort. What story is it?
The story of an idea born from pain (in the butt)
Everything has begun in 2016, when the Australian engineer Robin Macan he had an epiphany. Or maybe I should say inflammation. Tired of the pain caused by her saddle, Robin actually thought: "What if the saddle moved with me instead of remaining rigid like a block of concrete?" From there, the idea for vabsRider started to take shape.
Robin joined forces with the industrial designer Philippe Guichard and with the Whistle Design Group of Melbourne to turn his vision into reality. Now, his creation is poised to revolutionize the world of cycling, one butt at a time.
How the vabsRider saddle works
You may be wondering: how does a saddle move in unison with your legs? It's magic? Telepathy? No, it's pure engineering. VabsRider has a structure with two independent sides that rotate around a virtual axis, following the movement of the legs during pedaling.
Simply put, as you push on the pedals, the two sides of the saddle rise and fall, transferring pressure from the sit bones to the femurs. The result? More even weight distribution and comfort that will make you say: “Ouch ouch… no, wait, no ouch. Wow. However". You can also say it in your own words, I don't want to impose anything on you.
Adjustments: there is something for all tastes
VabsRider is not only comfortable, it is also customizable. Thanks to a specific system, you can change the forward/backward position, the height, the angle and the width of the saddle: whether you are tall, short, thin or with a little too much roundness, vabsRider adapts to you. It's like having a personal trainer for your butt.
When will we be able to experience this wonder? Well, for now vabsRider is still in development, but the company is working hard to bring it to market as soon as possible. If you are interested in being among the first to try vabsRider (and say goodbye to saddle pain), you can contact the company by email to express your interest. Once again I emphasize: I don't take money, there are no affiliations, I don't receive freebies. All spontaneous.
I don't know the price or release date yet, but one thing's for sure: our bottoms will thank us.
