Imagine a world in which top models can parade for advertising campaigns without leaving home, and their iconic faces continue to fascinate people for a long time, no longer limited by age and time. A perspective that is rapidly approaching reality thanks to the technology of "Metahumans". The famous Czech supermodel Eva Herzigova she is the first to have her own hyper-realistic digital double, created to represent her in virtual fashion shows.
A “metamodel” with no more limits
Eva collaborated with two startups by undergoing a scan with 70 cameras. Motion capture technology captured the movements of his face and body with unprecedented definition. Eva Herzigova's "digital twin" today has all the characteristics of the original, including her way of showing off.
Dimension Studio he worked worked closely with Eva to ensure her appearance was perfectly reproduced in 3D. The clothing, hairstyle and make-up of her virtual alter ego were meticulously chosen with her, to leave nothing to chance. Check it out here.
Eva Herzigova models for life and beyond
Companies will be able to hire the "metamodel" Eva Herzigova for their campaigns by modifying her look, poses and expressions according to their needs. The avatar will be able to participate in fashion shows (obviously in virtual reality), photographic and press campaigns acting as a testimonial for products or clothes, and even appear in live streaming.
Eva described the experience of creating her digital double as “incredible”. A form of motherhood, in which she ended up (re)bringing herself into the world. A self that can remain even beyond, if it wants, continuing to work for its heirs (who knows) or for charitable and social campaigns.
And in the meantime? “My metahuman version will be able to be a model: go to work, be photographed and dressed by the best creatives, while I stay at home to cook for my children,” jokes Eva Herzigova today.
In your place
Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, called the launch of the first metamodel a “revolutionary moment for the fashion industry”.
He's not entirely wrong. This is just the beginning of an era where the boundaries between reality and fiction they get thinner and thinner. Aesthetics and technology blend in a surprising way, overcoming the physical limits of our body.
And it's not just about replacing, but about integrating. The prospect (perhaps a little macabre) of seeing in action, and forever, famous people of the past.
For example, a model won't be forced to interrupt her work due to pregnancy, or an accident. You will be able to have more control over your image, and use it to earn money as a writer today does with a book of you, even years after you created it.
Eva Herzigova had an intuition: many other celebrities will follow, especially as the appearance and dynamics of the "metahumans" become increasingly indistinguishable from the original ones. The boundaries of this field are still to be explored and go beyond, much beyond a catwalk.
