Unless we soon arrive at a single standard for quickly swapping batteries, or a very fast charging system, "refueling" for an electric car on the highway will rhyme with "pause". And Tesla seems to have understood this well, given its diner project.
It's official: Tesla is opening a 50s-themed fast food restaurant. The project is called Tesla Diner and will be built in Hollywood, California. Elon Musk, after having obtained the necessary permits, is ready to start work on the construction of this structure which will combine entertainment and charging of electric vehicles.
Relax, don't do it
It's not just Frankie who goes to Hollywood, especially when it comes to relaxing (those who don't understand the quote are Generation Z). The Tesla Diner that will be built in Santa Monica will not just be a charging point for electric cars, but will offer a complete experience: two cinemas, a restaurant and 32 Superchargers for Tesla cars.
The project, which has been on hold for some time due to some changes that Tesla had decided to make, has now obtained approval from the authorities and is ready to become operational.
A formula, that of the "recharging pause", which has been in the air for some time. In Germany there have been extensive studies on the best possible development for these "service stations of the future", we have spoken about it extensively , promising. In hindsight, it seems almost obvious that the first to enter the game would have been those who were the first to focus decisively on the electric car.
What will the Tesla Diner be like?
Musk's company has not yet released official images or renderings, but has announced that the style of the location will be a mix between the future and the 50s. A new place of worship, in short, as eclectic as the property.
Needless to say, Tesla fans have already gone wild online speculating on the final appearance of the Tesla Diner: to accompany this article you can see their creations, and on the cover we made one too.
What to say? Let's see if Tesla will also create a paradigm for refueling, after having also done so for the car. It would be… Electrifying.
