There is no topic more divisive than climate change. A phenomenon so all-encompassing that it covers almost all aspects of our life, and on multiple corners. The spatial one, because it concerns the planet at all its latitudes, and the temporal one, because it has knots to untie in the past, present and future.
For anyone who might be surprised that there is already someone almost 200 years ago he warned us yet we are still here arguing, you know it's something completely obvious. There is a strong debate on climate change because it is a complex and controversial issue: the divisions between those who believe it is possible to defeat climate change and those who believe it is not possible are due to widespread uncertainty about the extent and timing of such changes, as well as the role of man in their existence.
I have collected two lists of “pros” and “cons” from around.
We will defeat climate change because:
- Awareness of the problem of climate change is growing globally, prompting nations, companies and people to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- THEincreased use of renewable energy sources, like the sun and wind, is helping to reduce the use of fossil fuels, a major cause of climate change.
- Technological advances are making renewable sources ever more efficienti and economically competitive compared to fossil fuels.
- Reducing air pollution levels at the local level gradually improves people's health and reduces the health costs of long-term exposure to pollution.
- Le international initiatives, like the Paris Accords, promote global cooperation to tackle climate change and develop sustainable solutionsat the global level.
We will not defeat him because of:
- Lack of political will and adequate funding to implement effective solutions to rising temperatures andrising oceans.
- Denial and resistance from some governments and industries to change theirs practices harmful to the environment.
- Difficulty coordinating global action Before it's too late and to reach a binding international agreement on reducing emissions.
- Dependence of societies and the economy on fossil fuels and excessive consumption of natural resources.
- Inertia of the climate system and difficulty in predicting exactly the effects of our actions on climate change.
What idea do you have? Today I acted as a referee, limiting myself only to presenting (and linking the ideas). Are you aligned with the #teamcelafaremo or with the #teamsiamosacciati? Let me know.
