Living close to busy streets is a nightmare with a well-known name: noise pollution. There are several ways to deal with it by soundproofing rooms with sound-absorbing walls, or by muffling the noise with rows of shrubs.
A German company has combined both anti-noise tactics by developing entire sound-absorbing walls with integrated plants.
Green silence
Naturewall specializes in the installation of flowers and plants in noise-reducing walls made of galvanized steel. When the wall is filled with earth, it gains enough mass to block up to 67 bB, reducing the sound level produced by road traffic.
The solution has dual utility, also acting as a counter to climate change. Integrated with wild flowers and local plants they strengthen natural habitats, also becoming a shelter for birds, bees, butterflies and other living things in the area. There is also the possibility of planting flowers and garden vegetables on the walls.
What is needed to install a green sound-absorbing wall against noise pollution?
Little or nothing. These Naturawalls require 80% less space than other sound-absorbing fences and walls and the steel frame is recyclable if it is removed. Furthermore, the whole thing is totally weatherproof and withstands any weather condition, even extreme cutting the sound always.
The company currently only operates in Germany, but with such an effective idea behind it it could become the new norm in the world of noise pollution solutions.
In reminding you that we do not take money from these companies or receive goods or bonuses, we reiterate the judgment: beautiful and effective.
Like all things that combine technique and simplicity, in natural silence (it should be said).
