Petvation: door with facial recognition for pets

Facial (and body) recognition also falls on animals: an 'intelligent' door authorizes or denies their access to the house.

A pet door installed in your front door can be a wonderful way to allow your feline friend or canine companion to come and go as they please, but it could also bring unwanted visitors. Petvation solves the problem with the help of AI facial recognition technology and a mobile app.

Perhaps you already have a small entrance portal that only allows access to your kitten or dog. Currently, the more advanced models rely on a special collar for our furry friends to wear, but they are a little uncomfortable for them.

For this Petvation has applied the same technology to the base of ours gadgets technology (smartphones above all) to guarantee "exclusive" access to the dogs and cats of the house.

Bau! Be recognized

Petvation is installed directly in the door, with its groups of cameras with a 120 ° field of view.

At the moment, the door seems to be more difficult to recognize and authorize the faces of animals than with humans. For this, the system uses images to recognize cats and dogs based on their entire body size. And it doesn't stop at our house quadrupeds: Petvation can recognize raccoons, ducks, foxes, snakes and bar the front door to them.

When our pet approaches, Petvation identifies him and opens the small motorized door: he checks (with some sensors) that there is not a leg or a tail left outside and only when Fido has already entered completely does it close again.

All 'registered', even the animals.

It goes without saying that the inevitable companion app allows you to manage, monitor, open and close the door for dogs and cats even remotely.

The smart door resists wind and water, has an aluminum alloy construction and is powered by a mains adapter to ensure continuous operation. If desired, you can plug it into a USB power bank to avoid having it plugged into a power outlet.

Like other oddities that have caught my attention in the past, this first pet face recognition model is also a crowdfunding project.

If you want to know more, or are interested in financing the production of Petvation, you can find all about it Kickstarter. Hopefully, the first models should be out of the oven in October 2022.

If not, well ... little door closed, right?
