2022 can easily be considered a “lucky” year, at least as regards the future of digital nomads.

These interesting professionals already existed before the pandemic. Working remotely is not exactly new, but the spread of Covid-19 has led to a significant growth in the number of “home-based” workers. What might seem like a disadvantage at first turned out to be an interesting opportunity.

Those who work and earn remotely can indulge in the exploration of unique places, changing cities as often as they wish. All he needs to sustain himself is his computer and a solid Internet connection.

Some countries are mobilizing to better accommodate digital nomads arriving from all over the world. Let's see where you should go and what are the associated benefits.

1 The digital nomads in Portugal

digital nomads

The first place to appear on the list of the most interesting of 2022 is certainly Portugal.

The sunny climate, the conviviality that reigns in the streets, everything in Portugal recalls the culture of digital nomads. As it happens, it is also very open to visitors, ready to welcome them throughout the year.

The government is currently recruiting remote workers, thanks to the introduction of the visa for passive income of Portugal.

Specifically, newcomers will get 0% foreign income tax and 0% cryptocurrency tax. There is not even a minimum stay in order to have access to income, just to leave the nomads free.

Of all the cities in Portugal, Lisbon is certainly the capital of remote workers. With a little luck, you can easily find an affordable rental and an equally powerful Internet connection.

2 Costa Rica's proposal

La Cosa Rica is certainly not far behind. Lately, the government has passed one law, with the aim of attracting foreign remote workers.

Similar to what happened in Portugal, Costa Rican law provides an income tax exemption for digital nomads. At the same time, it gives them access to local banks, and makes sure their driving licenses are valid.

The aim of these small introductions is to improve the welcome and the quality of life even more.

The wonderful territory of Costa Rica, made up of absolutely unmissable beaches and natural landscapes, has always attracted visitors. Many have decided to move to a permanent establishment, also considering the low cost of living.

The Internet connection is strong enough to provide nomads with everything they need to be able to work.

3 The digital nomads in Malta

Let's now move on to a new interesting destination, the island of Malta.

Right now, Malta is offering visitors attractive cash incentives, as well as the awarding of a residence permit for nomads.
Through this permit, visitors can continue to work remotely, staying in Malta for a maximum of one year (with the possibility of renewal).

The technology is quite developed in Malta, and reaches very interesting levels. The cost of living can be defined as "average".

With a monthly budget between € 1200 and € 1500, you are ensured a comfortable, peaceful and pleasant life. A really good compromise, especially for those used to the Italian average.

4 The charm of Spain

Lately, the Spanish government has been working on a bill called Startups Law, which involves the creation of a digital nomad visa.

In short, workers in possession of this visa will be able to work remotely in Spain and stay in the city for about 12 months. If necessary, it will then be possible to extend the visa up to 36 months.

Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid are just three of the most popular destinations for visitors. Spain has a lot to offer digital nomads, including constant inspiration.

The cost of living varies according to your area of residence. It is clear that the larger and better known cities have higher prices; on the contrary, in less crowded places it is possible to live even on 1500 Euros per month.

5 We conclude with Indonesia

Let's finish the list of the perfect places for the busy life of digital nomads by talking about Indonesia.

Bali, above all, has proven to be particularly suited to remote work. The spectacular beaches of Indonesia, the small jungles and buildings surrounded by greenery: every detail captures people's attention and hearts.

In 2021, the government announced it was working on a proposal for a five-year digital nomad visa with 0% foreign income tax.

For those who want to leave immediately, Bali offers tourist visas for two / three months, perfect for those who need a momentary break and want to explore as much as possible.
