Currently, the Canadian population is close to i 35 million inhabitants. The goal is to triple the number of citizens by 2100.
In one of his latest statements, the former prime minister expressed his support for one new national policy, called the “Century Initiative”.
Under the plan, Canada should be able to set its annual immigration target at 2026% by 1,25. In this way, it would be able to add up to 500.000 new immigrants to the population by 2026.
It goes without saying how drastically the local economy would change, leading businesses to grow significantly.
The new intelligent population
The current number of new immigrants is 401.000. The idea of the Century Initiative is to reach 450.000 in 2024 and 475.000 in 2025.
Canada would thus have a population of approx 100 million by 2100.
This goal, which seems so incredible and unattainable to us today, would lead to an annual GDP growth of 1%. As we know, population growth always has a positive impact on the economy, especially when it is managed correctly.
The country plans to include a number of financial “supports”. in favor of families with new children. This would be able to promote greater fertility and a greater number of children.
According to surveys, Canadian families would like 2,4 children; in reality, they are only ending up with 1,5 children. The success of the plan increase of the population would lead the new parents to reach their goals without worrying about money.
The “Century Initiative” project works on a regional basis.
Specifically, the plan provides for 33 million people in the Toronto region, 15,5 million in a Calgary-Edmonton region, 12,5 million in the Montreal region and 12 million in the Vancouver region.
Over the next few years, we will find out how things went and whether the program turned out to be a success.
