Solving the climate crisis requires smart energy solutions that reduce the need for fossil fuels and create sustainable options. This is exactly what it focuses on WZMH Architects. He wants to design energy-efficient buildings that are powered by renewable energy.
It is not easy, do you think? That's why the guys at WZMH put together solar energy, human energy and a (good) idea.
In collaboration with the Ryerson University, WZMH has created a real "microgrid (microgrid) in box ". It's called MySun, and it's a personal machine for human and renewable mixed green energy production. It can be used to power, among other things, LED lighting, mobile devices, heating systems and air conditioning units.
How does MySun work?
This solar-powered design uses a plug-and-play system. It includes a group of renewable energy generators an accumulator and a bike called “Sunrider”. The latter allows users to generate their own energy, which can then be stored. Energy is generated through biomechanical power, otherwise known as the power of biological movement. Mamma mia, how hard I made it. Energy is generated by wind, solar, and pedaling. Better?
Yes. We create energy every time we move. A person creates on average 100 to 150 watts of power while riding an exercise bike. Adding a dynamo motor to an exercise bike can produce enough power to run the lights in a 90 square meter (300 square foot) space for a full day.
This system harnesses that power.
Many independent renewable energy units, interconnected if desired
As the mySUN box is very small, it can be inserted directly into the walls of the apartments. This easily creates “renewable” power for each individual housing unit. The implications of such a device are enormous. With stuff like this, apartment buildings could be built without any copper wiring. Each unit would have its own power source, and with internal agreements, energy could then be redistributed to power the building 24 hours a day.
Zenon Radewych, CEO of WZMH, is enthusiastic (sure, he is up to a certain point, he talks about his creation. But he says the right things).
Think of mySUN as your personal, portable utility for renewable energy production. It is a low voltage direct current device, which makes it very easy to connect to a microgrid. mySUN can be integrated into a community of buildings powered by the same microgrid. Renewable energy is then created with the use of solar panels, wind turbines or energy bicycles and is stored in battery packs. Instead of large and complex electrical installations in buildings, hundreds or thousands of mySUN units can share energy with multiple users through a microgrid.Zenon Radewych
DC Microgrids is a large-scale project that explores multiple energy sources so that their power can be harnessed. Ultimately, the plan is to use wind and solar energy, among other renewable energy sources, to power entire communities and buildings.
