Mental disorders at CES2021: iSyncWave, diagnosis and portable therapy

iSyncWave presents at CES2021 a real-time monitoring system for mental disorders, and a treatment system. I await new details.

When it comes to Alzheimer's, dementia and other mental disorders including depression, early diagnosis is crucial. Unfortunately, as most detection requires monitoring by healthcare professionals, this process can often be complicated and cause delays in both diagnosis and interventions.

iMediSync, a biotech startup developing AI-driven early detection and brain health therapy platform, presented at CES 2021 a new EEG (electroencephalogram) brain mapping system and a LED therapeutic device called iSyncWave. The portable device may represent a revolution in the way of detecting mental disorders.

Brain mapping and therapy to detect and treat mental disorders

iSyncWave works in conjunction with a mobile app that connects to the iMediSync cloud platform. On the app, patients can quickly share their EEG data with doctors and mental health professionals. This allows you to detect mental disorders, monitor and diagnose from the comfort of your home. The patient is no longer forced to visit a health facility.

Alongside the system for detecting possible indicators of mental disorders there is also a very interesting device. A treatment based on LED photo-biomodulators that helps heal the brain when needed. LED therapy works by improving neural activity and "optimizing" a person's brain, iMediSync says.

More information is definitely needed

iMediSync also claims to be able to examine with an accuracy of more than 90% the likelihood that a person will progress towardsAlzheimer up to 10 years before a conventional diagnosis can be made.

The company, however, doesn't provide much information on how EEG diagnosis and LED therapy work.

What can be monitored? Il website iMediSync indicates that the device tracks the following indicators: memory decline, attention deficit, impulsivity, depressive mood, post-traumatic / post-anesthetic / post-chemotherapy cognitive impairment. All factors that can lead to mental disorders. In summary: a device, the company reports, that not only helps detect mental disorders but also helps recover from stress and trauma.

It sounds really exciting, but you need more details to trust these properties. Sure, the device would measure EEG waves. This is a simpler process. But healing the brain and its disorders is much more complicated.

Yet we all know how much would it take such a device, given the upcoming boom in mental disorders due to Covid: I hope to find more information already in the coming weeks.
