In the extraordinary green race that is about to unleash, there are many companies ready for massive investments to cut emissions and exploit clean energy, but some have an edge.
How many of them can say they produce more renewable energy than they consume? IKEA is confident that it can, and in just 12 months.
The proprietary holding company, Ingka, revealed that by December 2019 IKEA will be able to generate even more renewable energy. The situation will further strengthen during 2020.
A goal that comes from afar
Difficult to obtain a similar result in a few months. And in fact it was in the last decade that the foundations were laid: the company founded by Ingvar Kamprad invested in energy solar ed wind the sum of 2,8 billion euros.
A philosophy to be extended to customers: by 2025 IKEA will sell solar panels in its stores, popular and popular as a shelf, multiplying the users of renewable energy out of all proportion.
Last step, after the positive energy balance, that of emissions: by 2030 IKEA plans to cut more emissions than it produces into the atmosphere.
Not random timing
IKEA it is not rushing. Like Google, Amazon and other global market giants, it will leverage global climate protection actions to improve reputation and avoid controversy.
The next trend, of which we already see ample signs, will be to move from the "neutrality" of zero emissions to an active role in the battle against climate change.
I have no idea how all companies will do, or through what initiatives (real or facade), but I am certain of one thing: it is definitely a matter of "when", not "if".
