Palestinian sources report the inauguration of the first photovoltaic power plant as part of the plan to reduce energy dependence on Israel.
Mohammed Mustafa, head of the project, explains that the inauguration in recent days took place in the West Bank in the city of Jericho, and that it is the first of 4 planned power plants, one of which was donated by China.
Currently the Palestinians rely almost entirely on energy coming from Israel: within the next few ten year plan aims to reduce this dependence by at least 50% (the 4 planned power plants reach 30%).
West Bank consumption is around 700 million euros per year.
