After attempts by Amazon to deliver parcels through #drons, here in France the #mail already arrives with this method comfortably at the recipient's home. By now the postal services of some countries have begun to evaluate the possibility of using drones instead of the classic postmen, especially to deliver mail in particularly difficult areas. Examples have already been found in Switzerland and Australia. There France however, today it announces a real regular delivery service by drones.
The test is carried out by DPD group, an express courier that is part of the French national mail service. For now, a hexacopter is being used to deliver packages weighing up to 3 kilos along a 9.3-mile route in southern Provence. In reality, dedicated areas are available for receiving packages delivered by drone, so the mail does not arrive directly in the hands of the recipient as Amazon wants to do.
However, this is a step forward for the use of drones in the delivery of parcels and letters. One day, perhaps, we will have to get used to saying goodbye to the postman ...
