A flying machine was already being designed almost 100 years ago, but needless to say, these are unsuccessful attempts. Today, however, there are more suitable materials and more advanced technologies: for example, the use of electric motors, which reduces complexity and costs compared to internal combustion engines and turbines, while software developed for the self-driving cars would already be enough for a sci-fi car that can fly.
