Everyone knows that there is no way to achieve a sculpted physique without exercise: exercise outdoors or in the gym improves health and has excellent effects on metabolism, circulation and brain functioning.
Starting from this now acquired knowledge, scientists have begun to search for solutions to develop "pills for the physique" capable of obtaining in whole or in part the same effects that the gym and training have on the body. A research published in the journal Trends in Pharmacological Sciences presents a very precise forecast in this regard, expressed by Ismail Laher, of the Department of Medicine and Pharmacology of British Columbia University in Vancouver, Canada.
Several laboratories are working to achieve this goal: the first research fields (which are currently being tested on animals) focus on the functions and performance of muscle fibers and aim to improve the use of energy by increasing strength and how quickly the muscles react.
Effects such as increased cognitive function, bone strength and improved cardiovascular function may also be achieved later, says Laher.
Gianluca's note: it is unrealistic to imagine that one day simple pills replace all physical exercise, at least not in the immediate future, but the research field is interesting.
