Have you always dreamed of having a nice pair of blue eyes, but were you born with dark eyes? A Californian doctor patented and developed a method that can change dark eyes to blues (forever) in just 20 seconds.
How does Lumineyes work?
Il Dr. Gregg Homer is an optical specialist of the Stroma Medical Institute in California. He has patented and uses a technique called Lumineyes to remove the brown pigment (melanin) from the top layer of the iris using a unique laser.
With Lumineyes the eye changes from brown to blue gradually after being irradiated by the laser (the photo shows a treated eye in an intermediate stage of the transformation). The procedure seems to be quite successful, with one exception, which is not a small one. It is irreversible: yes sir. After Lumineyes and once lost, pigmentation cannot return.
The risks of Lumineyes
Doctors fear that after the operation, the drainage channels in the eyes will become blocked and cause serious vision problems. This happened to a model named Nadine Brown, who traveled to Bogota to undergo a Lumineyes session. She got her eyes blue, but then she became almost blind. And I ateye I care about it.
The procedure is now being tested on volunteers
There's a little bit of tuning still to do, but within a few years we should be there. Imagine the marketing of Lumineyes machines which (at a currently estimated cost of around 5000 euros) give you the ultimate thrill of cosmetic surgery: a beautiful pair of blue eyes. How about?
Edit: the article is updated in December 2021: in the meantime, the diffusion of Lumineyes technology has not been as widespread as previously thought. Nonetheless, there are some global centers (in the USA, Colombia, Mexico, Turkey and other countries) that practice interventions of this type. Interventions on which I would not feel like guaranteeing anything, and to which I would not subject myself. The only reference page that shows some images of the changes it's here.
If this method is ever spread in conditions of absolute safety (and of greater cost-effectiveness, I add) things will change radically, including, perhaps, my personal judgment. It will be a change that will make you look at the world with really different eyes. It is the case to say it!
